Ahlam Yassin, M. Ed.
As a passionate high school history teacher and debate coach, I am dedicated to shaping the minds of our future leaders. With a focus on global education, I am an alumni of the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms, the JerseyCAN Teacher Leader Advocacy fellowships and have served as a United States Youth Ambassador adult mentor.

My teaching philosophy is centered on inclusive and equitable learning environments, where students can develop critical thinking skills and broaden their perspectives. The combination of all of these experiences hopes to inspire students to think critically and re-imagine a better world.

I enjoy creating spaces were students and adults are able to share in important truths, while examining text critically. I have a proven track record of creating a warm community atmosphere in and out of the classroom, without compromising on quality output.

This is the TEDxYouth@ATHS event, which I coordinated along with student leaders.

My tenure as a high school educator has allowed me to revise and create curriculum, examine various in-classroom strategies to help students engage, learn and enjoy the process. I’ve served as lead coordinator for an accreditation process, began debate clubs to empower students in helping them find their voice. I’ve served on committees to address the need of school communities in private and public settings. I have traveled the world as a global educator in pursuit of learning from our global neighbors and broadening my students perspectives. Education is a service field that is demanding but just as it is demanding, it nourishes my spirit. Working with young people is one of the joys and honors of my life.
