“Fall seven times, stand up eight.” – Japanese proverb
The New Year is right around the corner, and in spirit of letting go of 2010 and preparing for a better 2011 it’s time to get focused. How many times have you promised yourself that this year is going to be better? Well, it’s time to stop thinking inside your head and realize those visions. This will be the year you conquer your life, focus and live it to its fullest and stop watching it go by, but how?
Leave the Negative Behind
2010 is almost over; whatever bad experiences you would rather forget just leave them behind. Broken promises, failed relationships, spiritual drain, that’s soo last year. 2011, bring it on, I know you’ll be good to me. I have too much faith in the good that’s left in this world and can’t wait to experience it.
Turn off the News
Now, for someone who promised herself that she would change the world, free Palestine, end world hunger and live in an America whose inner city schools resemble great establishments of education, this is a big deal. I am not in control of the world, but I can control the nuclear world I live in. I can contribute to my family, my home, and my friends. I have the power to bring positive energy to the people and places I come in contact with everyday, and so do you!
Spiritual Fulfillment
It’s so easy to get caught up in the chase of making ends meet, raising kids, and dealing with the stresses of everyday life. In the everyday hustle, it’s easy for faith to be put on the backburner. There is a way to live your life and keep your faith at the forefront. Feeding my thirst for faith and spirituality is a priority for me this year, because I know this will make me a better person in all that I take on.
One Word New Year’s Resolutions
How does a one word resolution sound? Instead of setting several empty goals for the New Year, you have a one word theme to pursue. The theme that will guide my 2011 will be “launch”. It’s truly amazing how one word can really sharpen your focus.
How about you? What one word, or short phrase, will guide your 2011? Share your thoughts and tell us how you will make 2011 the year you conquer your fears and pursue your dreams.
This is a great post – and you’re right, it’s all about attitude. As you know, I’m diving in to a big life change myself (I’m the one who’s working with Carol Tice on becoming a full-time freelance writer) and this is so relevant for me right now.
My one word is “organized.” I think if I could organize the various facets of my life, I could be far more effective.
thanks for the post Ahlam. Good luck with “launch.” 🙂
Thanks Susannah for stopping by! Yes, it’s really about attitude. It’s amazing how your mood and levels of motivation can increase dramatically simply by the frame of mind you are in. Good luck with getting organized as we approach the new year!
